Judith is the co-developer of NLP. She is the co-author of *Neuro-Linguistic Programming Vol. I* (1980) alongside Robert Dilts, John Grinder, and Richard Bandler, and played a key role in developing the foundational NLP technique of Reframing. As a student of Milton Erickson, Judith modeled his strategies for creating and utilizing trance states and metaphors. This work is detailed in *Patterns of the Hypnotic Techniques of Milton H. Erickson, M.D. Vol. II* (1976), which she co-authored with John Grinder and Richard Bandler.
In *Turtles All the Way Down: Prerequisites to Personal Genius* (1987), co-authored with John Grinder, Judith explored the connections between NLP and various aspects of culture, community, art, aesthetics, and epistemology. This work led to the creation of NLP New Coding, which sparked a shift toward a more systemic and relational approach to NLP and revived interest in the work of Gregory Bateson. Judith’s contributions to NLP New Coding include the development of Perceptual Positions, Attention Training, and the exploration of the relationship between conscious and unconscious processes.
In *The Encyclopedia of Systemic Neuro-Linguistic Programming and NLP New Coding* (2000), co-authored with Robert Dilts, Judith provided a comprehensive overview of NLP, covering its wide range of applications, techniques, and influences.
Judith has been a pioneer in bringing NLP to the field of transcultural competence, applying it to the development of cross-cultural skills. Her background in ballet and Congolese dance inspired her to integrate dance and movement as primary tools in NLP, leading to the creation of techniques like the Dancing S.C.O.R.E. and the development of Somatic Syntax in collaboration with Robert Dilts.
Judith holds a Master’s Degree (MA) in Religious Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Anthropology and Religious Studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz, where she first met Grinder and Bandler. She has taught NLP worldwide, including in Europe, Asia, Indonesia, Australia, Mexico, Central America, Canada, and the United States. She also served as president of Grinder, DeLozier, and Associates, and later DeLozier and Associates, for approximately 14 years. Currently, she is an associate at NLP University with Robert Dilts.
Judith is a co-developer of numerous projects applying Systemic NLP, ranging from leadership modeling to healthcare and cross-cultural competence. Her other written works include contributions to *Leaves Before the Wind* (1989) and *Map and Territory* (1997), both co-authored with Robert Dilts.
